Park Hyung Sik who starred the famous JTBC series “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” shaked off his “idol” tag and was recently tagged as the new “King of romantic comedy.”
The actor also played second male lead role with “Hwarang” but he was famously known and gained much attention after he played the role of Ahn Min Hyuk, the young gaming software CEO in the JTBC drama series.
“Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” was the first lead role of Park Hyung Sik. He was a former Kpop idol and a member of the boy group ZE:A. The actor said that his lead role came as a big pressure for him, especially that he was working with famous South Korean actress Park Bo Young.
The 25-year-old actor said that he was pressured to know that his female lead will be Park Bo Young, knowing that the actress was partnered with several veteran and famous actors such as Cha Tae Hyun and Song Joong Ki.
At the end, the actor decided to take the role as he did not want to miss the opportunity of working with Park Bo Young.
Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young’s chemistry was one of the reason why the JTBC drama sries broke record and garnered nearly 10 percent viewership in ratings. (Note: JTBC is a cable channel so audiences are fewer compared to free-broadcast channel, KBS, SBS, MBC.)
The actor is currently signed into Song Hye Kyo and Yoo Ah In’s label, United Artists Agency. He revealed that he prefers being an actor than an idol as he has more time for himself now.
"I worked like a machine: singing, riding in a van, eating, riding again and appearing in shows and sleeping. Since we were part of a big boy group, there was an army-like hierarchy and I had no personal time. At the time when a senior asked me what color or kind of car I love, I fumbled for words, because I didn't give a thought on such things, living the busy idol schedule," he said as Korea Times reported. "As an actor, I have more personal time to focus on myself and ponder what's best for me."
Park Hyung Sik wanted to work more in acting projects and hopes his passion for acting will not fade. He added that with or without his “idol” tag, he can be recognized as long as he will do his best.
