Red Velvet received the Grand Prize of the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The girl group was acknowledged for their unending efforts in the community.
The South Korean girl group was honored as the recipient of the Grand Prize at the Seoul Metropolitan Government for volunteers during the “2017 Seoul Social Welfare Convention” commemorating the 18th Social Welfare Day.
The Seoul Social Welfare Conference, which is hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Council for Social Welfare is an annual event that celebrated social welfare recipients, employees of various social organizations, volunteers and supporters who have contributed to the social welfare sector.
Red Velvet has been involved in different talent donations and volunteering activities which includes their regular visits to child care facilities and community children’s centers. Since then, Red Velvet has become a RCY (Youth Red Cross).
An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Council for Social Welfare said that Red Velvet has been selected as the winner as the girls acknowledged the high interest of children and adolescents. Moreover, they have great efforts to spread the culture of sharing.
Meanwhile, the group which is composed by Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri performed their first ever concert titled "Red Room" last August 18 -20 , 2017.
